EZ Earring!
Make your own earring wires! $25.95

You can make your own earring wires with copper wire, colored wire, sterling or gold.

earring_maker_1.jpg (34778 bytes)
1.  Just cut a piece of wire the length of the EZ Earring tool. Place it in the jig next to the pin.
ear_wire_jig.jpg (37319 bytes)
2.   Bend the wire to the right a bit with your finger. Place the spinner thingy on the pin. The spinner thing will make the loop for you. If your wire is facing 3:00, the knob on the spinner will be at 12:00

3. Turn the spinner thingy clockwise.

4.  Voila'! The loop is done!

5.  Then press the smaller lever.

6.  Bend the wire around so you can squeeze the next lever.earwire_making_jig.jpg (42535 bytes)

7.  Squeeze the bigger  lever and you've just made an ear wire. for best results, keep pressing the small lever with your left thumb while you press the big lever with your left hand.

8.  Trim the ear wire and you're ready to decorate your earrings! For uniform earwires, keep the ear wire in the jig, holding the big lever with your left hand. Using your right hand, trim the excess wire flush with the edge of the tool.

If you like the shorter shank of a simple shepherd hook earring, you can skip the first step 1 to 4 of making the loop. After bending the ear wire with the first and second levers, just form your loop where you want it using a round nose pliers.

For a custom look, skip the first steps 1 to 4 of making the loop so that you can add a crystal, stone or pearl.    Then finish off the loop manually with a round nose pliers. And add your matching dangle!

Earring Tip!
To smooth out the ends of your ear wires, you have two choices:
1. Use an emery board; you know, the nail file that's spongy in the middle.
Rub it over the wire with a few swipes and check to see if it's smooth yet.
It might take 8 or 10 swipes to smooth it.

2. Buy the "Round Your Wire" tool.

Round Your Wire
Round Your Wire
This Tool has a cupped tip.
The inside of the cup is a file to smooth the ends of your ear wires.
Useful with any wire that you've cut when you want to smooth it.
This is a handy tool to have when you make your own ear wires with the EZ Earring.
To speed up the process, insert the wood handle into the chuck of a cordless drill.
