6.  Bend the wire around so you can squeeze the next lever.

TIP!
To smooth out the ends of your ear wires, you have two choices:

1. Use an emery board; you know, the nail file that's spongy in the middle. Rub it over the wire with a few swipes and check to see if it's smooth yet. It might take 8 or 10 swipes to smooth it.

2. Buy the "Round Your Wire" tool.

Round Your Wire
This Tool has a cupped tip. The inside of the cup is a file to smooth the ends of your ear wires.  Useful with any wire that you've cut when you want to smooth it.  This is a handy tool to have when you make your own ear wires with the EZ Earring.

This earwire making jig is just the thing for making custom ear wires.
The "EZ Earring" earring making tool is precision machined and made in the USA, Minnesota to be exact!

Just cut a piece of wire the length of the EZ Earring tool. Place it in the jig next to the pin.

4.  Voila'! The loop is done!

7.  Squeeze the lever and you've just made an earwire.

TIP!
For a custom look, skip the first step of making the loop so that you can add a crystal, stone or pearl.  See the samples at the top of the page.  Then finish off the loop manually with a round nose pliers. And add your matching dangle!

You can also add a coil of wire and a small 2mm bead or crimp bead, shown above with a red coil.

You can make your own earring wires with copper wire, colored wire, sterling or gold.

5.  Then press this lever.

8. Trim the ear wire and you're ready to decorate your earrings!

If you like the shorter shank of a simple shepherd hook earring, you can skip the first step of making the loop. After bending the ear wire with the first and second levers, just form your loop where you want it using a round nose pliers.
